Crochet a Snail

Let’s learn how to crochet a snail. This is very easy and fun to make project. This can also be a yarn scrap project.

 

SC – Single Crochet

Sl st – Slip stitch

SC tog – Single crochet together – Decrease

Body: Make 1 (White /Half white /Brown or your choice)

Ch 4 – join sl st on ch 1 to form a ring OR Magic ring

 

R1: 8 SC in a ring; sl st;

R2 – R11: 1 SC in each stitch; Use stitch marker to define the starting point of every rounds

R12:  Increase à *(1 SC, 2 SC) Repeat (until 12 st)

R13 – R15: 1 SC each (12 st)

Stuff the fiber fill or cotton or yarn scrap

R14: Decrease till end: *(SC tog)

Stitch and close the hole

Fasten off and leave a very long tail.

 

Shell:  Make 2 (Any colors of your choice)

Ch 4 – join sl st on ch 1 to form a ring OR Magic ring

R1: 8 SC in a ring; sl st;

R2: 2 SC in each st (total 16 st by end of this round)

R3: Increase: *(1SC, 2SC) repeat (24)

R4, R5: 1 SC each st (24)

Fasten off and leave a long tail.

 

  • Join both the shells; inner sides facing each other; When there is few stitches left to be stitched, stuff the shell and then stitch to close the holes.
  • Attach it to the body. Please refer the video for joining
