Among all the indian fishes, nethili / Smelt is a favorite fish for most of us. Because it tastes so good and you never get bored of it. We can make traditional kulambu or crispy fry out of it. I was so happy when this fish is available in US, that too a wild caught fresh fish.

- Nethili meen / Smelt – 500 gms
- Shallots – 250 gms
- Tomato – 1
- Green chili – 3
- Tamarind – small lemon size
- Chili powder – 2 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Mustard – 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
- Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- Gingely / Sesame oil
- Cumin seeds powder – 1/2 tsp
