Coriander chicken is a very simple, yet delicious gravy for Rice, Rasam or Chappathi / Roti. Coriander flavor mixed with chicken will be heavenly. We are not adding any spice powders to it. Only green chili plays the role here. And no coconut too.  Let’s go to the recipe quickly.


  • Prep Time: 10 mins
  • Cook Time: 20 mins
  • Serves: 2 – 4


  • 1/2 kg chicken
  • 1 medium size onion
  • 1 tsp garlic ginger paste
  • 1 bunch coriander leaves
  • Few curry leaves
  • 4 to 6 number green chili
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 10 number cashews
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt as needed


  • Clean and wash the coriander leaves; Grind together coriander leaves, green chili, and curry leaves; (Few mint leaves can also be added to it)
  • Crush or Grind or Powder the coriander seeds
  • Soak the cashew nuts in hot water for 10 minutes and grind into a fine paste; (You can also use the poppy seeds in a same way, replacing cashews.)
  • Clean and wash and cut the chicken into medium sized pieces


  1. Heat oil in a pan; Add cumin seeds and powdered coriander seeds; Once it is fried, add onions and ginger garlic paste; Fry onions until it turns little brown and raw smell of ginger garlic paste goes off.
  2. Add grounded mixture of coriander leaves, curry leaves, green chilies. Cook until it gets thicken
  3. Add chicken; Mix well and cover the lid. Cook on a medium flame for at least 15 minutes. Chicken must cook well. And then cook without lid for another 10 minutes.

Simple but delicious Coriander chicken is ready. Serve hot with Steamed rice, Rasam or Roti/Chappathi
