This is an easy flower project for beginners to learn the basic stitches and techniques. We are going to use only Double crochet (dc), Single crochet (sc). Please watch the basic learning videos before starting this project.
Materials:
Yarn: Any brand, #4 Super bulky or Chose baby yarns
Crochet Hook: #4 or hook size mention in the yarn label
Abbreviations:
Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
Instructions:
Small size flower: ch 17
Medium size flower: ch 35
Large size flower: ch 53
For any size of flower, the foundation chain will be different. But the pattern is same.
Ch 17 or 35 or 53 (Crochet Learning #5 – Crochet foundation chain)
Row 1: Double crochet (dc) in the 5th ch from hook – (1st V stitch made: V stitch is nothing but the two DC stitch made in same chain which forms a V shape stitch)
*ch 1; Skip next stitch (ch6) and In next stitch (Ch 7), do dc, ch1 , dc (all these 3 in one chain ch7 – this will form a v stitch)
* meaning: we need to repeat the sequence in the pattern. So, the above step is what we need to follow for the row 1
Repeat this sequence until end of foundation chain (ch); and turn
(Crochet Learning #8 – Double Crochet Stitch)
Rows 2: Ch 3 (Consider this as 1 dc);
- * 5 dc in ch1 space of 1st V stitch in row 1
- * sc in the next ch1 space ;
- * 6 dc in ch1 space of next V stitch from row 1; Repeat across end of row 2
At the end of Row 2: Put a knot ( extra chain tightly) and leave a lengthy string and cut off
Fold into a flower: Start folding
Weave in the extra yarns using a needle or crochet hook
